Growing up in his father's auto repair shop, 11-year-old Pavel experiences a day of trials, attempting to show courage in front of his friends. Challenged by older kids to knock down a blackbird's nest, the horrific events that follow, and an unfolding tragedy at home shatter the boy’s understanding of masculinity, leading to a reassessment of his father's role in his life.
